Phasing out shrink-wrap

New designs in development

We're creating a range of recycled paper based packaging designs to replace the use of shrink wrap

We won’t be replenishing our shrink wrapping material, which we currently use to package a small number of our products. We’ve taken the decision to retire our shrink-wrapping machinery too, once our existing stocks of material are depleted.

The problem is shrink wrap is incredibly useful stuff. You see it used in all kinds of industries, from food packaging to household products to just about anything else that can fit in a shrink wrapping machine! It’s quick and easy to use, relatively cheap and it protects products very well from all types of muck and dirt that can accumulate during the shipping and warehousing phase of a products delivery. So when a customer receives their new product and removes the shrink wrap, it’s still in new condition, just as they would expect.

Shrink wrap material may be cheap and efficient to use, but it’s expensive in environmental terms. It’s usually made from either PVC or polyolefin. Both of which can be recycled, but sadly, like many plastics, are often not for a whole host of reasons which are out of the control of the original manufacturer.

So we’ve decided to design our way out of the problem and create new paper based solutions that eradicate the need for shrink wrap, while still delivering our products to customers in shiny new condition.

We’ll keep you posted and announce new packaging designs as and when they go into production.
